Industrial Scientific Ventis MX4 Multi-Gas Monitor
The Industrial Scientific Ventis MX4 is a compact four-gas monitor designed for personal gas detection, confined-space entry and pre-entry sampling. Despite its small size, the Ventis MX4 can simultaneously monitor up to four gases and is available in diffusion, integral-pump and slide-on pump configurations.
Common configurations monitor oxygen (O₂), combustible gases (LEL), carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), with additional sensor options available for applications requiring sulfur dioxide (SO₂), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂) or carbon monoxide with reduced hydrogen interference.

Personal Monitoring and Confined-Space Sampling
The Ventis MX4 can be configured to suit both personal gas monitoring and confined-space applications. For routine personal protection, the compact diffusion configuration can be worn throughout the working day without the additional size and weight of a permanently fitted pump.
When remote sampling is required, the optional Ventis Slide-on Pump can be attached to a compatible diffusion instrument. This allows the same monitor to be used to draw samples from confined spaces, tanks, pits and other locations before entry.
Ventis MX4 configurations with an integral pump are also available for users who routinely perform pumped sampling and confined-space work.
Available Gas Sensors
The Ventis MX4 supports a range of combustible-gas and electrochemical sensors. Up to four gases can be monitored simultaneously depending on the selected instrument configuration.
| Gas | Formula / Type | Measuring Range | Resolution |
|---|---|---|---|
| Combustible Gases | LEL | 0–100% LEL | 1% LEL |
| Methane | CH₄ | 0–5% vol. | 0.01% vol. |
| Oxygen | O₂ | 0–30% vol. | 0.1% vol. |
| Carbon Monoxide | CO | 0–1,000 ppm | 1 ppm |
| Carbon Monoxide – Low Hydrogen Interference | CO/H₂ Low | 0–1,000 ppm | 1 ppm |
| Hydrogen Sulfide | H₂S | 0–500 ppm | 0.1 ppm |
| Nitrogen Dioxide | NO₂ | 0–150 ppm | 0.1 ppm |
| Sulfur Dioxide | SO₂ | 0–150 ppm | 0.1 ppm |
Combustible-gas configurations are available with sensors calibrated for methane or pentane. Available sensor combinations depend on the selected Ventis MX4 configuration.

Product Details
Ventis MX4 Warranty
In Australia, Industrial Scientific provides a two-year warranty on the Ventis MX4 monitor, pump and CO, H₂S, O₂ and LEL sensors. Other sensors and batteries are also covered by a two-year warranty, subject to Industrial Scientific’s current terms and conditions.
Configure Your Ventis MX4
The Ventis MX4 is highly configurable, so the appropriate instrument depends on both the gases being monitored and how the monitor will be used. Common four-gas applications use LEL, O₂, CO and H₂S, but alternative sensor combinations are available for applications involving SO₂, NO₂ or low-hydrogen-interference CO measurement.
The sampling method should also be considered when configuring the instrument. A diffusion monitor may be appropriate for continuous personal protection, while an integral or slide-on pump may be required for confined-space entry, pre-entry testing or remote atmosphere sampling.
Contact Imbros with the gases you need to monitor and your intended application. We can configure the appropriate Ventis MX4 together with compatible pumps, calibration gas, regulators, sampling equipment, chargers and docking accessories.
