The LSPH01 is a long range LoRaWAN node that provides spread spectrum communication and high interference immunity whilst minimising power consumption. Its IP66 waterproof design makes it suitable for outdoor use. Its powered by a 8500mA Li/SOCl2 non-rechargeable battery and due to its low power consumption, users can expect years of operation with a moderate logging rate. The LoRa technology used for transmission allows you to send you pH data extremely long distances, and this is boosted further with the external antenna. Ranges for of more than 10km line-of-sight are not uncommon.
The operating parameters and many other settings on the LSPH01 can be modified via AT commands on the serial port interface through a terminal program like RealTerm, but an FT232RL USB-TTL converter is required for this task (not supplied). The communications port can also be used to upload new firmware via the built-in bootloader. When purchased with a T2U node licence, there is generally no need to worry about the technical stuff, as your device comes preconfigured for the Telemetry2U servers and loaded with the latest firmware, ready to go. Once its connected, you’ll be able to send commands and change the settings on your device from the T2U interface, so there is no need to connect to via the serial port.
Telemetry2U provide a plug-and-play solution to monitoring soil parameters by coupling affordable yet robust hardware with a sophisticated IoT platform. It’s now possible to see soil nutrient (NPK) and pH levels in real-time on a dashboard from any Smartphone or PC connected to the internet. Historical data can be analysed on charts, tables, and reports – enabling farmers to see what effect any soil treatments have had and compare actual scientific data against real world results.
