he LLMS01 is a long range LoRaWAN node that provides spread spectrum communication and high interference immunity whilst minimising power consumption. Its IP66 waterproof design makes it suitable for outdoor use. Its powered by a 8500mA Li/SOCl2 non-rechargeable battery and due to its low power consumption, users can expect years of operation with a moderate logging rate. The LoRa technology used for transmission allows you to send you pH data extremely long distances, and this is boosted further with the external antenna. Ranges for of more than 10km line-of-sight are not uncommon.
The LLMS01 probe is designed in a leaf shape to best simulate real leaf characteristics and consists of 15 leaf veins per centimetre, meaning it can sense smaller drops with more accuracy. It detects the leaf’s moisture and temperature using the FDR method (Frequency Domain Sensors), where the leaf is used as a capacitor to measure the maximum resonant frequency in the electrical circuit, and that relates to the moisture content.
