Compact Dry is a ready-to-use test method which helps to reduce the time needed to perform microbial testing. The plates can be used to test raw materials as well as finished products like food, beverage, meat, cosmetics and other samples.
Compact Dry plates are incredibly easy to use and read. Simply place 1ml of sample onto the dehydrated medium, and the liquid samples will self diffuse evenly over the whole plate. Incubate at the temperature specified for your sample type, and the grown colonies will flourish, and are ultimately pigmented with chromogenic substrates and redox indicators to allow you to identify bacterium, yeasts, moulds, etc by their resulting colour.
Unlike other culture plates and test methods, Compact Dry plates are easy to store – requiring no refrigeration prior to use. In fact, they are happy to be stored at room temperature for up to two years, and can be used over an incubation temperature range of 20 – 42°C.
The rigid structure of the plates allow for easy transportation, and for an unlimited number of units to be stacked safely in an incubator. Risk of contamination is eliminated by using the covering lid.
