Axen AX4 Four-Gas Monitor

Axen AX4 is a practical 4-gas monitor built for contractors, rental fleets, and everyday gas monitoring. Built for simplicity and reliability, the Axen AX4 is ready to be picked up, turned on, and trusted from the start to the end of the shift.

Industrial Scientific Axen AX4 Four-Gas Monitor

The Industrial Scientific Axen AX4 is a practical four-gas personal monitor designed for everyday industrial gas detection. It simultaneously monitors the four atmospheric hazards most commonly encountered in industrial and confined-space applications: combustible gases (LEL), oxygen (O₂), carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrogen sulfide (H₂S).

Designed for straightforward operation and easy fleet deployment, the Axen AX4 combines simple two-button controls with a large display, up to 24 hours of battery runtime and fast magnetic charging. It is particularly well suited to contractors, rental fleets, shutdown work and organisations that require dependable four-gas protection without the additional complexity of a connected gas detection platform.

Four-Gas Personal Protection

The Axen AX4 is purpose-built around the conventional four-gas combination used across many industrial safety and confined-space programs:

GasSensor TypePurpose
Combustible Gas (LEL)Catalytic beadDetection of potentially flammable atmospheres
Oxygen (O₂)ElectrochemicalDetection of oxygen-deficient or oxygen-enriched atmospheres
Carbon Monoxide (CO)ElectrochemicalPersonal protection against carbon monoxide exposure
Hydrogen Sulfide (H₂S)ElectrochemicalPersonal protection against hydrogen sulfide exposure

Rather than offering a large selection of specialist sensor combinations, the Axen AX4 concentrates on these four common industrial hazards. This makes it particularly suitable where a standard four-gas configuration is required across a workforce or instrument fleet.

Designed for Everyday Industrial Use

The Axen AX4 has been designed around simple operation and instrument availability. Two-button navigation reduces operator complexity, while the large display provides clear gas readings and can be configured with dark-mode and flip-screen options.

A rechargeable battery provides up to 24 hours of typical operation. Magnetic contact charging simplifies connection, and a full charge can be completed in less than two hours, helping instruments remain available across changing shifts and busy operations.

Applications

The Axen AX4 is suited to routine four-gas personal monitoring across applications including:

  • – Contractor safety programs
  • – Shutdowns and turnarounds
  • – Rental gas-monitor fleets
  • – Industrial maintenance
  • – Manufacturing and processing
  • – Utilities and infrastructure
  • – Wastewater and water treatment
  • – Mining and mineral processing
  • – Energy production
  • – General industrial safety operations

Overview

The Axen AX4 is designed as a straightforward personal multi-gas monitor for organisations requiring protection against the four most common industrial atmospheric hazards. Four sensor positions provide simultaneous monitoring of combustible gas, oxygen, carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulfide.

Operation is deliberately simple, using two-button navigation and a large display designed for easy interpretation during everyday work. Display options include dark mode and a flip-screen function to make readings easier to view while the instrument is being worn.

The rechargeable battery provides up to 24 hours of typical runtime, while magnetic contact charging allows the instrument to reach a full charge in less than two hours.

Unlike Industrial Scientific’s connected multi-gas platforms, the Axen AX4 is designed as a standalone instrument and does not connect to iNet®. For applications requiring connected gas detection, remote monitoring or broader connected-safety functionality, other Industrial Scientific platforms such as the Ventis Pro5 may be more appropriate.

Calibration & Accessories

The Axen AX4 is supplied with an Axen AX4 calibration cup for routine manual bump testing and calibration using the appropriate calibration gas and regulator.

The standard instrument package also includes an Axen AX4 charging cable and magnetic charging connector.

Is the Axen AX4 Right for Your Application?

The Axen AX4 is particularly well suited where workers require a straightforward LEL/O₂/CO/H₂S personal monitor and advanced connectivity or specialist sensor configurations are not required.

For applications requiring alternative gas sensors, pumped remote sampling, connected safety functionality or more advanced instrument configuration, another Industrial Scientific multi-gas platform may be more suitable.
